Student Wall

Alon Malek (Gauteng)

Being part of the NCIT programme at itstudent was the best decision I could have made. I not only gained a lot of knowledge and skills, but also developed as a person. I made lots of friends with people just like me, who share the same excitement and passion for the IT industry.

You start off learning Business Skills, which is the most basic and fundamental part of any business. You learn how to behave in the corporate world, as well as interact with different kinds of people. You learn to adapt to the environment in order to create rapport with colleagues. From there, you branch out into the IT field, where you begin to learn the basics of computers and then tackle the more advanced parts. itstudent's structure is a very unique structure, as it allows for anyone, no matter how computer literate they are, to start from the very basics and then enhance their abilities throughout the year.

itstudent’s NCIT programme is not as easy as one would think. It requires a lot of hard work and dedication. Having said that, you will not leave itstudent feeling dissatisfied, because if you do the work, you reap the benefits.

Richard Ward (Cape Town)

Towards the end of 2008 itstudent visited my school (Fairbairn College in Goodwood) to introduce themselves to us and provide information on the courses they were offering.  I was very interested and my parents and I were invited to attend an introduction evening at the college.

We were all very impressed and although it took some persuasion to convince my parents to spend the course fees for a year, I started with itstudent (a Microsoft Gold Partner) in February 2009.

The teaching style was fun and very informal and the “open door” approach really appealed to all of us.  Teachers were always available during the day after hours and everyone including the admin staff (especially Brylea) was always very helpful and always prepared to walk the extra mile.

I really enjoyed my year at itstudent.  The college is easy accessible from all routes, including public transport.  I am currently working for Datacentrix at the Cape Town Stadium in anticipation of the Soccer World Cup.  itstudent recommended me, along with a few other college friends for the positions available and I was appointed.  With my qualifications I can work anywhere in the world and I would like to thank itstudent for assisting me in securing a bright future!

Robert Porter (Durban)

I started at itstudent in 2007, i was straight out of school and had a very vague and “boxed” idea of I.T. But that all changed once I was done at itstudent.
My time at itstudent was roughly about 2 years, and I enjoyed every minute of it.  The lectures and the lecturers were great. To the point and didn’t speak in a language that only the super geeks could understand, but that even “normal” everyday people could understand.
The facilities were also very good.  They had very clean and neat looking lecture rooms, as well as a really nice cafeteria, which served really good food.

I really learnt a lot while being there, and not just about IT but about the world outside, and business etiquette. With the assistance of itstudent I managed to get my National Certificate in Information Technology (NC:IT), as well as go on to achieve my MCSA, MCSE and MCSE:Security. The next step was to find a job, which is no easy task in S.A. right now, but with the help of itstudent it was a lot simpler, they would find jobs and let students know. Thanks to itstudent I found a well-paying job and received a lot of experience.

In short I had a blast at itstudent, I learned a lot as well as had a lot of fun, we also had a lot of socials that were set up, such as LANS, Paintball days, Ushaka and many more.

Simisiwe Dhlamini (Pietermaritzburg)

In many of life instances and life achievements a human being is driven to their full potential by simply by what drives them. It is sometimes hard to find or discover each individual’s passion and inspiration for targeting their goals. I was one of the few fortunate ones as itstudent allowed me the chance to realise the root passion of what in turn has nurtured my success today. My year at itstudent in 2009 was not only a stepping stone but a foundation, a development, a channeling, and a succession route into the future.

I was merely just another yet “fresh out of school” student who was equivocal and at the same time scared of the future. itstudent developed my uncertainty and fear of my future. At the beginning of the course I was certain that my future lay in I.T but I was unsure about which field I wanted to venture in. I learnt a great a many things through the course. It not only put my abilities and field of proficiency into perspective but It also fine-tuned my natural character to be engineered into the image that would best suit the path I had chosen. I was one of few people who knew which field they wished to embark on between Programming and Networking. I chose Networking, not only did I like it but because I’m a networker by nature and a networker in thought too.

In my year at itstudent we were all under the pressure of the expense of the course, and were basically in the hot seat for a year at home and at college. It was to prove to be a daunting yet prosperous year especially for me as it attended to my future needs in the shortest time ever! Attending lectures was not only a pleasure but a pure inspirational drive to be taught by the efficient lecturers, who never left a page unturned. itstudent, as many would know, became my second home. I was always one of the first students to arrive at campus because I was so driven and passionate about the course that it put a couple of worrying frowns on my home siblings! In that year of 2009 I was able to achieve an internship from a prestigious company in Pietermaritzburg and became one of the top achievers in my class of 2009.

itstudent was not only about studying I.T and getting the job. It was learning and a growing experience that has everlastingly branded my future. In life you can be grateful for a great many things but none in my life will match, as yet, to the focal point of making the most of my full abilities and skills.

Sphamandla Gambushe (Pietermaritzburg)

The greatest educational year ever!

That’s the only way I can describe my full time studying doing the NCIT course. The atmosphere at itstudent is a lovely family orientated one and you tend to feel part of the family from day one. I started with a passion for computers and wanting to learn more about I.T and how it works so doing my NCIT has really given me a boost and wider understanding of the field of IT. Now the future growth is very much a possibility!

The NCIT is worth doing if you have a passion for learning IT and are willing to learn and give of your all. If I had the second chance to be in NCIT again I would grab the chance with both hands. The great learning environment, fun people and the ability to grow and learn more and experiment as well is fantastic!

I have itstudent to thank and especially the trainers’ who were always willing to go the extra mile with a good heart!  THANK YOU TO IT ITSTUDENT Pietermaritzburg!!
